RAYLASE, the world's leading supplier of application solutions for laser material processing, has received a grant from @BAFA. "We would like to thank the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for its support in acquiring this particularly energy-saving component cleaning system," says CEO Dr Philipp Schön, delighted about the financial grant.
With the slogan "Deutschland macht's effizient" - #deutschlandmachtseffizient - the German government is subsidising projects that invest in new, energy-efficient technologies. "A key component of our energy balance sheet as we work towards a better overall CO2 footprint for our company is obviously the energy efficiency of our own systems that we use to manufacture our laser deflection units," emphasises Dr Schön.
The funding for the new cleaning system is highly welcome; it supports RAYLASE in cleaning mechanical components for opto-mechanical deflection units in a cleanroom-friendly manner. "We are proud to have been able to manufacture the optics for our laser deflection systems under cleanroom production conditions since the beginning of the year - as one of the first suppliers on the market. This makes our products even more attractive for industrial production. Dr Schön is convinced that "the quality achieved in the clean room sets standards for laser deflection units in industrial production".
The new machine is a hydrocarbon-based solvent system based on vacuum technology. RAYLASE can use it to clean loose particles, small chips, and organic substances from individual components up to a size of 567 x 367 x 242 mm. The process saves up to 70 per cent in energy compared to conventional processes such as oil-sealed rotary vane pumps and uses significantly less water. Dr Philipp Schön formulates his aspirations as CEO of RAYLASE as follows: "With our laser deflection units, we not only want to support the industry with a more sustainable way of working, but it is also my personal goal to position our company to be sustainable in the long term." The new component cleaning system reduces RAYLASE's CO2 emissions by 63 tonnes per year compared to a similar system that uses water as the cleaning medium.
